Outing with friends @ Chinese and Japanese Gardens

Went on a outing with my friends to Chinese and Japanese Gardens to practise using my DSLR, still quite a newbie as compared to those professional guys I encountered in the parks. But it was still a rather fruitful trip despite my amateur photography skills :P

blue nawab
my first Blue Nawab (Polyura schreiber tisamenus)!! looks abit different from the pictures I have seen online
changeable lizard
Changeable Lizard (Calotes versicolor) - exotic
common kingfisher
Common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) - rather uncommon as compared to the Collared Kingfisher
crested goshawk
We came across a whole group of photographers carrying heavy camera lenses - and they were all looking at this bird! Crested Goshawk (Accipiter trivirgatus)

Yellow Bittern (Ixobrychus sinensis)
Sterculia sp.
monitor lizard
Malayan water monitor (Varanus salvator)
nelumbo nucifera
Nelumbo nucifera aka Lotus
oriental magpie robin
Oriental Magpie-Robin (Copsychus saularis) that was completely unfazed by our presence, we could lie down on our tummies beside it to photograph it...which might not be a good thing at all
pacific swallow
Pacific Swallow (Hirundo tahitica) - a rather common bird that one can see soaring in the skies, one can only get a closer look when it perches
peltophorum pterocarpum
Peltophorum pterocarpum aka Yellow Flame Tree
pink neck green pigeon
One of the figging trees in the park attracted dozens of the Pink-necked Green Pigeon (Treron vernans) - this one here is a female

yellow vented bulbul
Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier) - a rather common bird that could be seen in urban parks
